Behavior of the ventricular function by echocardiography in patients with acute myocardial infarction

An observational descriptive study was carried out with the aim of knowing the behavior of the ventricular function by bidimensional echocardiography, calculating the ejection fraction of the left ventricle in acute myocardial infarction patients who were treated or not with Cuban recombinant streptokinase. The universe was formed by 102 patients with the above mentioned diagnosis who underwent a bidimensional echocardiography by means of which the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was determined. The anterior infarctions predominated. The ejection fraction of the left ventricle was higher in those patients who received thrombolytic treatment independently from the topographic localization of the infarction. The average time for the implementation of the thrombolytic treatment was always less than 6 hours, although, without showing a statistical difference, the anterior infarctions received treatment an average of 35 minutes earlier than the inferior infarctions.
