Introduction and objectives: Of great clinical importance is the use of nuclear techniques for determining the permeability of the infarction-related artery. The objective of this research was to know the myocardial perfusion state of the area dependent on the irrigation of this artery and to determine whether or not a reopening of the artery after thrombolysis occurred. Method: A detailed experimental investigation was performed with a sample of 10 consecutive patients, of both sexes and any age, who were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the "Dr. Celestino Hernández Robau" University Hospital in Santa Clara. These patients presented a clinical diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction and were treated with Cuban Recombinant Streptokinase. Results: Men made up to 60 % of the sample and 70 % were over 50 years of age. The inferior infarction was the most frequent (50 %) and 70 % of the series were administered thrombolytic therapy in the first two hours of evolution. The myocardial perfusion gamma scan assessment showed 12 uptake defects, the third part (33,3 %) of them were considered to be mild. After the thrombolytic therapy administration there was a 50 % decrease of uptake defects. Conclusions: The 99Tc-MIBI gamma scan study was useful to demostrate the recanalization of the infarction-related artery, after the administration of Cuban Recombinant Streptokinase therapy.
