About the Journal
Focus and Scope
CorSalud is a scientific journal devoted to cardiovascular diseases. It is the official publication of Cardiocentro Ernesto Che Guevara, hospital for tertiary care of these diseases in the central region of Cuba, and it is subordinated to the Cuban Society of Cardiology. It publishes articles in Spanish and English on a quarterly basis on all aspects of cardiovascular health and disease.
The objective of CorSalud is to disseminate the scientist’s results of health professionals linked to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases anywhere in the world, giving priority to the central region of Cuba.
Authors can publish original and brief articles, review articles, images in cardiology, case reports, scientific letters and letters to the editor. Editorials and special articles are solicited by the Editorial Board.
CorSalud only accepts manuscripts that have neither been previously published nor evaluated for publication elsewhere; this implies a great responsibility on the part of the authors. The selection of material for publication is based on the degree of interest for most professionals, scientific soundness, originality, topicality and timeliness of information, the seriousness in addressing the issue, its drafting and compliance of medical ethics.
Peer Review Process
All contributions will be evaluated by expert peer reviewers appointed by the Editors. CorSalud follows a policy of peer review of scientific papers submitted by authors. This review process protects, in all cases, authors and reviewers and has a special care with the ethical standards set to avoid conflicts of interest.
Manuscripts are reviewed anonymously by two and sometimes three experts. The whole process of review will be blind. In no time the reviewers will have knowledge about the institution of origin of the article or the authors. The Editorial Board of the Journal reserves the right to refuse articles not deemed suitable for publication.
Before the publication of the article, authors will be notified by e-mail to review the galley proofs and report the journal whether there are mistakes in the text.
Open Access Policy
CorSalud provides open access, free of charge and immediate to its content, based on the principle that offering people free access to research contents helps a greater global exchange of knowledge. It allows copying and distribution while keeping the recognition of their authors, and neither commercial use of articles nor any modifications are done to them.

Ethical conflicts
Ethical aspects in scientific publications constitute an issue of great interest for biomedical journals editors; because some cases of unethical behavior have been detected that have forced the retraction of several already published articles.
The ethical conflicts related to publication in CorSalud are solved in accordance with the Recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, updated in 2016.
