Abstract

Coarctation of the abdominal aorta is an uncommon, non-inherited vascular condition that affects men and women alike.  For diagnosis, one must make use of magnetic resonance imaging or arteriography, and therapeutic options include percutaneous balloon catheter dilatation, surgical treatment and, finally, as a more novel option, the implantation of stents. In this paper we present the case of a 45-year-old female, ex-smoker with a history of rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension who presented claudication of lower limbs during gait.
