Abstract
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy complicate 5 to 7% of all pregnancies and are one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. These disorders vary from mild hypertension to severe preeclampsia/eclampsia. Recently, there have been major advances in the study of these disorders; however, many aspects need to be resolved, mainly concerning pathogenesis, prevention and management. This review is based on the latest available evidence on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Aspects related with classification, diagnosis and management of hypertension in pregnancy and its main complications are discussed in this article.Downloads
