Abstract

Some cases of a severe pneumonia were reported in the city of Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The new virus, SARS-CoV-2, which produced this highly contagious disease called COVID-19, was identified in January 2020, and it reached epidemic dimension in March 2020. There is an established protocol for its diagnosis, which includes imaging studies, including chest dual energy computed tomography. The characteristics of pulmonary and vascular anatomical findings in tomographic images of patients with COVID-19, their distribution, and their relationship with the time elapsed since the onset of symptoms, play an important role in the control and treatment of this disease, reflecting the diagnostic value of this technique.
